What's the Difference ?


Say  vs. Tell



  • You say something (a statement); you tell someone (a person + information).

  • "She said hello" / "He told me the news.”


Travel vs.Trip



  • Travel is the general act of going places;  a trip is one specific journey.

  • Love to travel"/ "We went on a weekend trip to Paris


Listen vs. Hear



  • Hear is passive (it happens automatically); Listen is active (you do it on purpose)

  • "Can you hear that noise” / “ I am listening to music"


Each  vs. Every



  • Each focuses on individual items; Every focuses on the group as a whole
