Use of : "Despite " vs " Although "


DESPITE : “Despite” is a preposition used to show contrast or an unexpected result. It is followed by a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase, not a full sentence. It is generally used before short phrases. For example, “Despite the heavy rain, we went for a picnic.” Here, “the heavy rain” is a noun phrase.
