What is the largest number ?

Soln: Let the numbers be 2x, 3x, 4x


Sum of squares = 725


(2x)^2+(3x) ^2+(4x) ^2 = 725


4x^2+9x ^2+16x ^2 = 725


29x^2 = 725


X^2 = 25 ⇒ x = 5


Largest number = 4x = 4 × 5 = 20


Ans: (b) 20


Q: Three numbers are in the ratio 1 : 2 : 3 and the sum of their cubes is 4500. What is the largest number ?


Options: (a) 6  (b) 10  (c) 4  (d) 15


Soln:


Ratio = 1 : 2 : 3
Sum of cubes = 4500


Cube the ratio numbers


1, 8, 27


Add : 1 + 8 + 27 = 36


Divide : 4500 ÷ 36 = 125


Cube root of 125 = 5


Biggest number = 3 × 5 = 15


Ans: (d) 15


Q. Find the average of first 5 whole numbers

First 5 whole numbers = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4

Average = (0 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4) ÷ 5


= 10 ÷ 5
