Positive Indefinite Pronouns

What are Positive Indefinite Pronouns ?

Positive Indefinite Pronouns are pronouns that refer to people in a general or indefinite way, but they give a positive meaning (not negative).
They do not point to a specific person, yet they suggest that at least one or all people exist.

Common Positive Indefinite Pronouns : someone , somebody , everyone , everybody

Explanation

  1. They refer to persons, not things.

  2. The exact person is not known or not mentioned.

  3. They are called positive because they do not deny existence.

  4. They always take a singular verb.

Examples : 1. Someone is waiting outside. 2. Somebody called you earlier. 3. Everyone likes honesty. 4. Everybody is present in the class.
