Positive Indefinite Pronouns
What are Positive Indefinite Pronouns ?
Positive Indefinite Pronouns are pronouns that refer to people in a general or indefinite way, but they give a positive meaning (not negative).
They do not point to a specific person, yet they suggest that at least one or all people exist.
Common Positive Indefinite Pronouns : someone , somebody , everyone , everybody
Explanation
- They refer to persons, not things.
- The exact person is not known or not mentioned.
- They are called positive because they do not deny existence.
- They always take a singular verb.
Examples : 1. Someone is waiting outside. 2. Somebody called you earlier. 3. Everyone likes honesty. 4. Everybody is present in the class.
