Educational Story: Oil and Water : Why Oil floating on Water ?
Once upon a time, inside a clear glass jar, two liquids met for the first time—oil and water. They looked at each other curiously. Water said proudly, “I am strong and dense!” Oil smiled and replied, “I am lighter and free!”
When they were poured together, something interesting happened. Water quickly settled at the bottom, while oil gently floated on top like a soft blanket. They tried to mix, but no matter how much they moved, they separated again.
A little student watching this experiment asked, “Why don’t they mix?” The teacher explained, “Water is polar, and oil is non-polar. They are different in nature, so they don’t like to mix.”
Water added, “I am heavier, so I stay below.” Oil happily said, “And I am lighter, so I float above!”
