Q. A person hears the sound of a gunshot 33 seconds after it is fired. If the speed of sound is 330 m/s, what is the distance ?


Formula:


Distance = Speed × Time

Where:



  • d = Distance in metres

  • v = Speed of sound in m/s

  • t = Time in seconds


Solution:


Speed of sound = 330 m/s
Time = 33 seconds


d = 330 × 33

d = 10,890 m

Convert into kilometres: 10,890 ÷ 1000 = 10.89 km 


Ans: 10.89 km
