Q. A dog takes 3 leaps in the same time that a rabbit takes 4 leaps. Also, 2 leaps of the dog are equal to 3 leaps of the rabbit. Find the ratio of their speeds.


Formula:


If the dog covers the same distance in n₁ leaps and the rabbit in nā‚‚ leaps, and:


a leaps of dog = b leaps of rabbit


Then,


Speed Ratio (Dog : Rabbit) = (n2×a) : (n1×b)


Solution:


Here,



  • n1 = 3,  n2 = 4,  a = 2,  b = 3


Therefore,


Speed Ratio = (4×2) : (3×3) = 8:9


Ans: Dog : Rabbit = 8 : 9
